Masthead
The masthead head is black on a grey/white background making it stand out more also it has mean arranged in a graphical way making it more eye catching and interesting to look at.
Image
The images gives the effect that this photograph was taken year ago, when colour photos didn’t exist however there is an object on the page that is in colour. This coloured object is the red heart on kanye’s chest which will likely bring in an audience of kanye fan to read the next issue as they may question why the heart is there and why it is outlined.

Vibe tend to keep the layout of their contents pages fairly similar. The layout for this contents page is very simple and stylish perhaps more suited for an older and more sophisticated audience. Vibe have kept the use of colour to a simple four colours white/grey, blue, black and a hint of red again keeping it basic. The have stuck to just the one image, and have included information down the right hand side about “Features” and “Fashion” also for these sub heading they have use a stylish font making them stand out to the more modern fonts like the Masthead. Behind the image there is a “V” representing to the name/logo of the magazine.
VIBE cover analysis
This is a
front magazine cover from vibe. When first looking at this magazine cover your
eyes are drawn to the image of Kanye West, which helps give you
the idea of what genre of music you may find in the magazine, In this case I
know that Kanye West is a rap artist so I assume that there will be articles on
other rap artists. The masthead on this front over is being half covered by the
photograph. This suggests that this is a well-known magazine and they aren’t too
bothered about the masthead showing as people will still recognize it. The
colour they have used is the same colors that are on Kanye West’s jacket. This
makes the magazine cover more interesting to look at and makes it look more
professional. Vibe have stuck 3 main front colors blue, pink and black which
all work nicely with each other. And have used a light grey background which
the photograph and text fits on.
NME cover analysis
This is a
magazine cover is from one of the NME magazines and is a special edition cover.
Firstly the masthead is white which is different to its usual colour red, but
it is the same size, font and in the same position. NME have used white to
stylise the magazine as it as a special edition. NME has used two colours for
their text white and blue also there have stuck to four different fonts as
anymore may look scruffy also the fonts they have used aren’t old looking there
are all modern. NME may have used blue for the main cover line to make it stand
out from the rest of the white text also part of the main cover line is placed
over “Florence’s” white t-shirt making the text stand out more as there is a
contrast between the two, not only that it is the biggest font on the magazine
cover. All of the white cover lines are placed over Florence’s red hair making
sure her face is not covered up. This is effective as the text stands out well
on the red hair also the cover lines include information about other artists
which may be eye catching to some buyers, also there is a quote from Florence herself.
The picture NME have used for the magazine cove is a close up of Florence. Her
head is slightly titled to one side suggesting she is sophisticated. In these
images of Florence she is making eye contact with the buyer, it almost drawing
you in making you want to buy the magazine.
